Ipala and final posting of this trip

Well all we are safely back in our slip at Paradise Village marina, and wishing we did not have to go home ( you know work). We have met some wonderful People along the way
S/V Inspiration - Ralph and Sandy hold a special place with us and we have been drinking Inspirations and we will see you guys again
S/V Lions Paw - Greg and Deb. You guys are great I wish we had more time to spend with you ( we love old river rats turned sailors)
S/V Sea - Tacean, Archie and Bev, you gave us so much information and we look forward to seeing you next year
S/V Jammin - Dave and Helen, have a safe passage
S/V Blythe Spirit - Ian Holland you are quite a character we hope to see you back IN La Cruz
and of course Lost Elvis, Have safe travels to Panama we will catch you at some point
Ruben the Dock master at La Hadas , very hospitable. Angelita and Raul of Friday Cafe and Bar at Las Hasas, GReat 50 peso pannin's for lunch and incredible live music on wednesday night. Anyone going to Las Hadas must fo to Frida's

All I can say is i highly recommend doing something like this to EVERYONE. it is relaxing, entertaining, and freeing. Some of the places we went we would have never seen if we had been on a land based trip. You learn so much about other people and their cultures. for next year we hope to take a long break. The only things i would change is some minor modification's to the boat ( we are adding a water maker) although i never became an issue, i can see that is could become an issue, and fewer clothes. The other thing is the sheer number of Newport Beach boat is incredible. NBYC, BYC and BCYC burgee's everwhere. ( not to many ALYC) we need to fix that

My final boat project is to get rid of 1/2 of what i have in clothing, it never came out of the closet. We never ran out of food or good compnay when we wanted it. We had pleanty of music, but we need to add more movies to our library.
IPALA
Deerfoot out of Newport beach anchored next to us in Ipala.

You will notice a panga pull up next to them. The kids go from boat to boat looking for school supplies. We gave them a large spanish english dictionary. Carry school supplies to give to the small villages in a recommendation. they need pens, pencils, paper.

The little village of Ipala there was 8 boats total . That is a lot of boats for this little anchorage

Meet Frick and frack ( they also have 2 sisters) We paid 150 pesos for 4 lobsters.

Bahia Chamela ( the propane adventure)

La perula Village

Street side tacos. 10 tacos and 2 soda 84 pesos

on the way to go get propane we passed some fantastic farms. they meke good use of the land. planting tomatoes under the mango trees

the fuel station ( note the 20 gallon jugs for fuel)

January 15th Bahia Chamela ( the propane adventure)

Yesterday I was making breakfast and we ran out of propane, half way thru cooking the omelets. So we turn on the BBQ and I finished. The adventure of the day was to go get propane. The closed plant is in tomatlam, about 40 minutes by car. I flagged down a panga and asked them if the new where I could get propane. What happens in this town in the Propane truck come by with large bottles in a flat bed truck you just do a swap? They have no way of filling smaller bottles. I proceeded to ask my panga fisherman what is the best way to get to the plant. They offer to take me for 200 pesos. So Fidel can Isidro came back for me in an hour and off we went.

First of all Isidro is about 20 years old and so is his little Nissan sentra. I think max speed we got in the car was about 40 MPH. Oh I forgot we needed gas so we put 90 pesos of gas in the car (check out the gas station picture it is hut with 5, 10, 20, and 55 gallon drums, which of course is manned by a girl and had the required “girlie’ calendar on the wall. Then off we went, an hour later we are at the plant. It was a whole 95 peso to fill my tank. On the return trip we stopped for tacos, to check out tires for his Nissan, exchange spark plugs (may as well urn errands). From what I am told a taxi charges 1000. (MN) peso for what we did for 200. So all in all we had quite an adventure, and spent 470 ( 37.50 US) pesos for 10 kilograms of propane ( or your typical BBQ grill sizas) of propane.

So, all in all anything can be found with a little patience. Isidro informed me i should stay here in Chamela an open a school. They want to learn how to talk to the tourist. I could make a whole 4000. MN per week with 15 student 2 hrs a day ( that is less than 400.00 US per week of those you un sure) That is quite an offer but I will have to pass for now.

Bahia Chamela

The village of La Perula, around the corener of the rocks is a lagoon that goes about 2 KM

Rich in the accepted cruising attire

The vew on the homes building into the cliffs in Caryes ( some as much as 5K US per night)

January 14th
We have arrived in Bahia Chamela and we are anchored in La Perula. A cute little village. There are 3 boats here total. We are going to do some sun bathing, snorkeling and perhaps go in to town? Perhaps not. We had a great sail from Caryes to here. 5 -7 kts of breeze and boat speed of 2.5 to 4 kts. No land speed record that is for sure but we had whales breaching close to the boat and sea turtle floating around. And of course the pictures did not come out. I need a camera with a big lens for close ups. Richard had finally accepted cruising attire, naked with a sarong to cover up. We like this bay and could spend a fair amount of time here. WE wanted to go check out some of the other anchorages here, but we just don’t have the time.

We will stay here a few days, then head to Ipala, and do an early morning round of Cabo Corrientes on Sunday morning and be back in the slip. We got an e mail from a work collogue and we will take him sailing next week and fly home.
