(Sorry no new pictures)
We spent a relaxing day on the boat, reading and resting and I also did a some work, you know that 4 letter word and works for my real job. Richard is still trying to get the dingy engine started after it went upside down. We were at the beach and left the dingy in the water and a wave flipped her over.
I finished reading The Appeal, John Grisham. That makes 5 books read so far, Nora Roberts as JD Robb, Stranger in Death; Stewart wood Beverly Hills Dead; Mary Higgins Clark, I heard that song before; and James Patterson, Beach Road; I am running out of books I need a book exchange soon.
We called the marina in Manzanillo and have decided to go there for a few days. At 400 pesos a night (10 pesos per ft per night) we figure 3 nights why not. ( Amounts to about 33.00 US per night. WE can plug into power, give the batteries a good charge, fill up with water, and hang out at the pool and re provision the boat. We will be at Las Hadas, where the move 10 was filmed. (Side note, lots of movies are filmed in Mexico).
I have discovered a skill I did not know I had, I have been baking. Bread actually, Foccacia to be exact, from scratch you know flour, yeast, etc.) . I have made herb and garlic and plain. Provision are limited as far as purchase, ( one can only eat so much “bimbo” bread. It last for weeks, I am not sure what is in it and not sure I want to know.
This is what we have discovered to far. Expense are REALLY down. I had provisioned the boat when we left Puerto Vallarta to the tune of about 200.00 US. (This included 100.00 of booze, 4 cased of beer, Rum, Vodka, Kailua, and the like) Since then we have only spent 295.00 US including fuel since December 17th . Fish is about $7 US per kilo (2.2 lbs) Steak are about 6.00 US per Kilo. Shrimp are 10.00 per Kilo and of course, beer , we have been drinking Estrella and Modela are between 16 and 20 per case. That has been the biggest expense. And fruit and veggies are cheap ( as long as you each local. Tortilla for a dozen were 35cents ( yeas that is correct) . in the smaller towns we are not able to find the sliced ham and that sort of thing, but that is OK
We are going to have to clean the bottom soon, I would imagine we will do that in the anchorage in Manzanillo since we can’t get into the marina until Monday.
Well in the morning it is up anchor at sun up and hope to be in manzanillo for lunch and have a leisurely weekend.
Another side note, WOW is there a lot of boat from Newport Beach, We have had a power boat named Christine, another named Drum Beat , and a numerous others flying Newport Beach yacht club burgees and the occasional BCYC or BYC burgee. I wonder if they recognize the American Legion Burgee. I thought we were in Mexico , not Newport Harbor.
